Trip Costs

11 days: from $2,180

15 days: from $2,770

Included:

  • An experienced, bi-lingual trip leader will be with the group for all organized activities
  • Specialist day-leaders for certain activities, such as the Rocinha favela walk and the capoeira school visit
  • Signature experiences aslisted in the itinerary
  • All lodging: double occupancy in charming, locally run 3 and 4-star hotels
  • Approximately two meals daily, as listed in the itinerary
  • One internal flight during the 11 day trip ( Salvador to Rio), and two internal flights during the 15 day trip (Salvador to Rio and Belo Horizonte to Rio )
  • All ground transportation: private van, taxi, etc.
  • All entry fees: museums, national parks, monuments, etc.
  • Travelers' insurance covering medical treatment and evacuation up to $500,000
  • Airport pick-up and drop-off
Items not included and estimates:
  • International airfare arriving in Salvador and returning from Rio: Budget $900
  • Approximately one meal/day.  This gives you the opportunity to explore on your own and indulge your individual tastes. Budget $10/day
  • International departure tax at airport: Budget $40
  • Visa (required to enter Brazil): Budget $100
  • If you are traveling alone and choose the option of a single room, add $330 for our 11 day trip or $450 for our 15 day option.  Note: to avoid this upgrade fee, ask us to assign you a roommate
  • Trip cancellation and interruption insurance - this is optional but recommended. Speak with us about details.

Details

Max Group Size: 12 (minimum 4)

Length: 11 or 15 days, including international travel

Activity: Moderately active.  Participants must be able to walk comfortably for 2-4 hours per day, sometimes over hilly terrain.

High Energy Options: there will be a few physically exhilarating options for those so inclined such as a climb up the back of Sugarloaf, a two hour hike at Prainha beach and spectacular paragliding over Rio (this last at additional cost).
